SOME INFORMATION &  FACTS

If you are looking for a cheap mass produced child`s car (many of them are of  dubious quality and durability) then do not read on any further as Drover cars are not in that category.

Our cars are designed and hand made in the UK in very low volumes using durable materials to high engineering specifications. The body and superstructure parts are made from vacuum formed ABS plastic with the outer panels made from self coloured acrylic capped ABS that gives a high quality finish with excellent impact resistance. The tubular steel underframe and chassis parts are powder coated for long life protection and the steel windscreen frame is strong enough to act as a rollbar in the unlikely event of an accident.

The cars are driven by a powerful electric motor close coupled to a transaxle unit with differential drive to the rear wheels. The wheels are heavy duty steel rims fitted with wide section pneumatic tyres suitable for turf use so that they will be kind to your manicured lawn.

The steering system employs a reduction gearbox in the steering column in order to reduce the effort required at the steering wheel which is the same high strength alloy wheel as fitted to many high performance racing carts. Front independent suspension is achieved with spring shock units mounted on cast aluminium wishbones  which are rubber mounted to a subframe.

The 24 volt power is supplied from a pair of 40 amp/hour absorbed glass mat (agm) batteries which are sealed for life and safe to use and are designed for many charge/discharge/charge cycles. The batteries are fixed in the front “engine compartment” which is fitted with a lockable bonnet lid.

A high-tech electronic motor controller is mounted under the drivers seat and is programmed to provide safe acceleration and deceleration rates and complies with all the latest European and American safety standards for electric vehicles. The car is simple to operate having only one control pedal - press down to accelerate and lift off to brake - the braking action is `regenerative` which means that the energy dissipated when braking is used to recharge the batteries. A simple 2 position switch is employed to select forward or reverse direction.

Two speed ranges can be selected by means of a facia mounted switch with a removable key so that parental control can be exercised. The low speed range gives 0 to 4 mph with low acceleration rates and speed restricted to 2 mph in reverse direction; this range should be used for very young or learner drivers whilst more experienced drivers can enjoy the benefits of the higher speed range which is restricted to 8 mph.

The drivers seat is adjustable and also the accelerator position in order to cater for all ages and sizes - generally from about 4 years to 10 years although it is possible to accommodate a small adult. The car is very powerful and quiet and is capable of towing a loaded trailer - the trailer can be purchased as a separate item.

Standard equipment includes seat belts, stereo radio/cd player and battery charger. Personalised number plates can be supplied to order and will incur an extra charge.
